hello, again! (naturally)

It sure has been a minute hasn't it. Welcome to Saikyo Central v2.0... unless this is your first time stumbling upon this site, then just welcome to Saikyo Central.

To catch everyone up to speed, I've been blogging since January 2024 when I started Saikyo Central (for Research & Development). And, research and develop I did. It was my first time getting into web development and I learned a lot just messing around with the website. It gradually became a place for blogs, reviews, rambles, website links, and general oversharing on the Internet. I even dabbled in decorating it with monthly themes and polls.

It was the best of times. It was the blurst of times...

It was great until the months of simply winging my way through web development caught up to me. After a year and some change of blogging, the site had become a mess of spaghetti code almost impossible to casually update without hours of debugging. This led me to getting burnt out and going on an unexpected hiatus until I got the motivation to just reboot the site. A reboot with some fresh aesthetics and the goal of making it more intuitive, mobile responsive, and easy to update.

There were other reasons for starting over. I wanted to get off hosting Neocities, for one. And, I also have just changed so much as a person and webmaster. It came to a point where the website no longer represented me and was too much of a mess to fix. So, as Marv Wolfman did on Crisis on Infinite Earths, I've wiped the slate clean and started anew with an improved and streamlined Saikyo Central (no subtitle this time).

It's very barebones right now. As of typing I pretty much only have the blog up but I will be slowly adding back some cool stuff like pages for reviews, essays, and the like. I also have some new stuff I'm excited to put out I don't wanna spoil right now. It'll be much easier to update now that I've reworked the site from the ground up!

(Thanks again for suggesting the 11ty site generator! It's a total game changer, V!)

As for the old site, I will be making an archive of it soon. There's some good stuff back there I still want to be available, especially my old [LINKS] page full of dozens of cool sites from across the indie web.

So, look forward to that and if you want to stay updated on any new posts or updates, follow my RSS feed, especially now that I won't be using the Neocities feed to post updates anymore. There are lots of ways to follow an RSS feed through RSS Feed Readers or e-mails but I'll probably make a more in-depth guide later. (To any of my fellow Neocities users, please look into using an RSS feed yourself, they're so epic and convenient.)

Am I forgetting something... oh yeah! Meet Casio P.! They're the site's mascot.

Oops, looks like I interrupted their game time. Point is you'll see them around from time to time guarding the site from any ne'er-do-wells so get used to them. Welp, with that said, here's to new beginnings.

Stay tuned!
